Marcus

It seems only fitting that I follow my previous post with one about Marcus.  He turned 30 last weekend, so in honor of Marcus' 30th birthday....

30 Things I Love About My Husband (in no particular order):

1.  He's a wonderful cook.  Seriously, I would starve without him.  Or live off of bagels and bananas.

2.  He takes care of us.  Every morning, he makes breakfast, packs Isa's snack and lunch, my lunch, and anything else we need for the day.  I'd be late to work everyday if it weren't for this....and I'd starve, of course.

3.  Marcus is a wonderful father.  He still likes to remind me that I (possibly) didn't change a single diaper the first week after Isa was born.  This is true at least for the first 2 days.  But he loves his babies, and they love him.

4.  He loves Jesus.

5.  He's competitive.  We could make a competition out of anything.  All in good fun, of course. :)

6.  He loves me even when I'm ugly (inside and out).

7.  Marcus is always the first one to say "I'm sorry."  (This may or may not have something to do with how long it sometimes takes me to apologize and admit I was wrong...)

8.  He is a wealth of useless information.

9.  He loves his mother.  He's not a "mama's boy," but I always thought you could tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his mother.

10.  Once our kids are done nursing, he's ALWAYS the one to get up with them in the middle of the night.  He does this without complaining, or even waking me up.

11.  He's always striving to be a better man.

12.  He gets along with my dad.  I've always thought that was important.  Though lately he's really becoming more and more like my dad....

13.  On the weekends, he gets up early with the kids so I can sleep in a little.

14.  He lets me shop as much as I want.  Shopping is how I unwind, and he knows this.  Though the other day he did say, "I appreciate that our daughter is the best-dressed kid in Kindergarten, but I think she has enough clothes!"

15.  Marcus does laundry, the dishes, and cleans toilets. Amen.

16.  He supports me in ANYTHING I want to do.  I must admit I'm not very good at returning the favor.

17.  He's the "Room Mom" for Isa's class.  He might try to play it off as though he was forced into the position, but truthfully, he loves it.

18.  Ever since she was able to recognize faces, baby Sydney lights up when she sees Marcus.  She's had him wrapped around her little finger from the day she was born.  So, so sweet.

19.  Marcus will often ask me, "Hey, have you ever been to/met ______ ?"  and I have to remind him we've been together for 10 years.  I'll take this to mean "time flies when you're havin fun!"

20.  He's always dreaming about/planning our future.  The house, the yard, our kids, where we'll live, etc.

21.  He knows when to bite his tongue.  That is a trait I sure admire (and wish I had...).

22.  Baby got back.  If you've ever been to a Vidal wedding, you know what this means.

23.  Marcus can make friends with anyone.  He is such a people person, and can strike up a conversation with anyone.

24.  He calms my Type A personality, teaches me how to relax.  This used to drive me crazy, until I realized I'd really go crazy if I was married to someone just like me!  :)  Now I appreciate it.

25.  Marcus LOVES sports.  All kinds.  He could probably tell you all about any high school, college, or pro sports team.  He was also (multiple times) an All-American water polo player in both high school and college.  I enjoy his love for sports, and I hope our children have this love as well.

26.  When something happens that Marcus finds really funny, he giggles!!

27.  He's goofy.  Our kids don't stand a chance of not being dorks. :)

28.  He always stops to dance with me whenever we hear our "first dance" song.

29.  Marcus loves his job.  He has a desire to teach teenagers about Christ.

30.  He cried when I walked down the aisle.

Happy Birthday, Marcus!  Here's to many, many more wonderful years together!!
