Overbooked

I think we may have overbooked ourselves.  Between our regular jobs, my online class, Marcus' softball games and high school youth group, my softball games, Cade's soccer practice, and Isa's gymnastics, soccer practice, and soccer games, we are now booked every night of the week.  We're really enjoying it, though.  Cade loves soccer and does really well.  Isa just started gymnastics and the teacher already said she'll move up a level soon.  And Marcus and I kind of like doing something for ourselves.  So I think we will continue this craziness.  Plus, only 5 weeks until school's out (not that I'm counting!!) and then it won't seem so hectic.

Isa had her first soccer game today.  Since she's still 5, she's with the 4-5 yr olds.  She did really well, but I think she's the only one on her team who really knew what was going on. :)  It's pretty cute to watch them all run around chasing the ball.  If they kept score, her team would have lost something like 8-1.  Isa did score their only goal though. :)  I'm sorry the pictures aren't that great.

Listening to her coach

Waiting to start

You can't really tell, but she just kicked the ball here.

Waiting to start- it was freezing!
On her way to the goal
My little soccer player.  I promise she really is wearing shorts.
After soccer I hurried home to finish last minute preparations for my cousin's baby shower that my mom, Jen, and I were hosting.  I brought my camera, but didn't take a single picture.  But I did snap a few pictures of Sydney afterwards.

Yes, she is standing.  And into EVERYTHING.  I really can't emphasize that enough.  She keeps you on your toes.  Neither Cade nor Isa ever really got into things- they never put anything in their mouths, didn't get into cabinets they weren't supposed to, etc.  Sydney is the exact opposite.  Any. little. tiny. thing. goes. in. to. her. mouth.  And she likes to chew on tags, her favorite one being the tag on the mat in the kitchen.  Gross.  Today while I was getting ready for the shower she crawled over, turned the mat upside down, and was licking the bottom of it.  Eeeww.  But she is a joy.  She is the happiest baby and so incredibly sweet.

Finally, we got new doors this week.  We had a slider before, and these are such a wonderful improvement!

Cade humor

Cade is drinking a cup of milk.
Isa: "Cade, can I have a drink?"
Cade:(in a soft voice) "Let me whisper in your ear."
(leans toward Isa's ear)
"NO!!"

Oh I love that little man.

Personality Theory??

Marcus was gone for 5 days this last week.  Whenever he's gone, I always have the kids sleep in bed with me.  When he's here, he's ALWAYS the one to get up with the kids, and to be honest, I don't even hear them.  So when he's gone I'm afraid I won't hear them (yes, even with the monitor, I don't wake up), so I like them close to me.

However, they're getting a little big for all 4 of us to share a bed.  So this time I suggested that Cade and Isa have a slumber party on the floor by my bed, and they thought that was a wonderful idea.  One night I woke up and had to laugh at how they were sleeping really represented their personalities.

Isa, my perfectionist who always does what she is supposed to, was sleeping in her sleeping bag with it layed out perfectly straight, just like it's supposed to be.  Cade, who often likes to ignore the rules, was sideways/upside down and half way under my bed.  His sleeping bag was all over the place and he was no where near his pillow.  And little miss Sydney?  She somehow managed to take up my entire Cal King bed.

Sorry there are no pictures.  I really wanted to document this with a picture, but I wasn't about to risk waking them up.  :)

Twins??

Sydney wore one of Isa's old dresses today.  Everyone always comments on how my children all look alike.  It's true, they do.  So I thought it'd be fun to compare Isa and Sydney in the same dress.  Unfortunately, for some reason Isa's pictures are blurry, so it makes it a little difficult to compare.  Sydney is 8 months old, and Isa was 9 months in these pictures.  And now, in the blink of an eye, she's almost 6 years old.  Where did the time go?!

Kisses

Sydney likes to give kisses.  Mouth wide open, tongue, drool, and everything.  It's so cute.

And then I decided to try to get a picture of all 3 kids, even though 2 of them were in their jammies.  Only 2 cooperated.  My girls....

You can't really tell, but Sydney very discretely (and very quickly!) grabbed Isa's hair (hence the mouth wide open).  Cade, on the other hand, isn't so much into cooperating lately.  This is what I got when I asked to take his picture...

Yes, he has zebra sheets.  Poor kid.  Hand-me-downs from Isa.  I think he needs his own sheets.

Eight Months

Sydney is 8 months old today.  It is getting more and more difficult to take her picture because she is constantly on the go.  And an "8 Months Old" sign is almost out of the question, because she likes to crumple/rip/eat paper.  Here she is in her new swim suit and matching cap, all ready for summer.

At 8 months....
- Not sleeping through the night.  Sydney wakes 1-2 times a night, then sleeps half the night in our bed.
- She has 2 cute little teeth.
- Syd waves, says "Da da", and makes the "mmmm" noise to mean Mama.  She also makes a "bbb" noise, which means bye and also Belle (our dog).
- Sydney loves to be outside.  We put her on a blanket on the grass while Isa and Cade play, and she just wants to crawl right off.  She is also fascinated by Belle.  If someone is outside (anyone, even just the dog), she likes to sit at the sliding door and watch.  And by watch I mean lick the glass.
- I feel like I am constantly frantic that she's going to choke on something.  She's everywhere fast, and there is just so much stuff for her to get into!
- Everywhere we go people are always commenting on what a smiley baby Sydney is.  She really is a very happy baby.
- She's had just about all of the different flavors of baby food.  She likes them all, though the "dinners" don't seem to settle well.  I'm noticing that every time after I give her one of these in the evening she sleeps horribly that night.
- Sydney took a long time to start laughing.  She has an awesome belly laugh now.
I can't believe she's already 8 months old!!!

Randomness

Please forgive me for the lack of organization in this post.  This past week has been a rough one, and my mind is a little jumbled.

Last Monday my Grandma Mac passed away.  (Well, technically she was my cousin's grandma, but I still called her my grandma)  She had cancer, though just two months ago the doctors said she would be fine.  Grandma Mac has always held a special place in my heart.  She used to watch me when I was little while my parents worked.  She was a trendy, classy, wonderful woman.  She always made everyone around her feel so special, so loved.  I still can't believe she's gone.

I am praying for a certain change in my life.  It seems like time is running out though.  I've never really been one to worry- I know the Lord will put me right where I need to be.  So I am praying for patience. :)

Cade 2 1/2 almost 3.  He is so stubborn!  And lately he's been pretty ornery too.  I hope this is a phase.

Sydney is 8 months old tomorrow.  This evening I was waiting for the older two to get out of the bath tub so I could give her a bath, and while she was waiting she was crawling all over as usual.  She likes to pull herself up on Isa's little step stool.  But tonight I turned around to see her trying to climb up on to it!!  I didn't know kids could start climbing this early!!

I am going to start playing softball this weekend and I'm really excited.  However, it's been a LONG time since I've actually worked out, so hopefully I don't hurt myself!

On that note, I've been making an attempt to actually exercise with the kids every day instead of just sitting on the grass while they exercise.  For the most part I've been jumping on the trampoline with them, though we've played other sports as well.  15 minutes on the trampoline and I'm exhausted!!!

Isa's school mascot is the eagle.  Last weekend she finally got to take home the "class pet"- a stuffed animal named Ernie Eagle.  They went in alphabetical order, so she was #23 out of 24 to bring him home.  Needless to say the very first thing I did was wash him. :)  She got to keep him for the weekend and he went everywhere with us.  I took pictures of the things we did and on Sunday we put the pictures in the class journal and Isa wrote about what we did.  Then on Monday she got to share it with the class.
